Inside Dubai: Playground of the Rich (2022 - 2022)

The documentary focuses on some of the aspirational Brits who are choosing to live and work in Dubai and see how the people attracted there have changed over the course of its brief 50-year history. Mark is fresh off the plane having quit his job stacking shelves in a supermarket back home in Newcastle, but an unexpected offer of work presents him with a difficult decision.

As the tax haven celebrates its 50th birthday and looks to the future, the programme asks whether it can keep it up the frenetic pace, revealing plans to more than double the number of tourists over the next 20 years. Cameras also follow Liverpudlian nightclub entrepreneur Chris Wright as he opens a new bar in a developing complex of beach clubs, benefitting from a relaxation in the rules around alcohol.
